Sprayers equipped with booms can often spray at lighter gallon per acre rates (6 – 10 gpm) with great efficiency. Some of the factors that support this efficiency are the finer mist nozzles and the height of the boom. These sprayers can often wet/reach every blade of grass or leaf because of the small and numerous water droplets.
Sprayers equipped with boomless or broadcast nozzles need to be operated at heavier (12 – 20 gpm) gallon per acre rates. This is due to less efficient coverage and larger water droplets. Spraying at heavy rates can cause run-off as larger water droplets roll off the leaf and fall to the soil. Although this method results in a certain amount of inefficiency due to run-off (or roll-off), increased results can be experienced due to a greater leaf surface area coming in contact with the product. Using lighter gallon per acre rates (8-10 gpm) can significantly reduce results and efficacy due to a greater number of leaves that don’t come in contact with the product/solution.
Unless otherwise listed below, a general rate of 1 pound of IFERING Fertilizer per 1 gallon of water is recommended. More specific and targeted mixing rates can be advised based up various conditions and nutrient requirements.
